DO'S AND DON'TS IN YOGA!

Most of us are aware of the benefits of Yoga. However, to fully enjoy the benefits, it would be much wiser to seek a Master who is well versed with the ways of Yoga. If  getting the right person to teach you Yoga is by some way not possible, it would be better to know the do's and don'ts before you proceed further.

Yoga is a science. You learn the basics before you plunge headlong into it. Let's see some of the basics.

1)  Practice yoga on a mat. Never on the floor or bed.

2 ) Wear clothes that are comfortable. Cotton would be the best. No tight fitting clothes please.Ladies should wear bras.

3 ) Yoga should be done on empty stomach. Best done after the bowels are cleared.If food is taken, a gap of four hours is required before practicing Yoga. Intake of coffee, tea or juice would necessitate one hour gap before you begin.

4 ) Food can be taken after 20 minutes on completion of practice for the day. The same goes for bathing provided you didn't have your bath before. However, you can commence your practice immediately after bath.

5 ) The ideal time to practice would be between 4 and 6 in the morning.

6 ) Switch off the airconditioner please. Enjoy fresh air while practicing Yogasanam.

7 ) Take care to include counter postures wherever required.

8 ) Some Asanas require supervision for beginners. Hence it would be better to seek guidance.

9 ) For those with chronic ailments, supervision by Yoga Masters is mandatory.

10) For best results, you need to do Yoga everyday. It should be a part of your routine.
