PARVATASANA (MOUNTAIN POSE) AND ITS BENEFITS
Parvatasana / Mountain Pose
Mountain Pose is one of the important seated yoga poses. It offers immense benefits and is one of the weight loss yoga poses. As the pose resembles a mountain, it is called Parvatasana, meaning Mountain in English.
How to do Mountain Pose
- Assume Lotus Pose.
- Stretch your arms sideways and over your head. Bring your palms together without bending your elbows.
- Keep your back straight.
Duration: 15 to 30 seconds
Benefits of Mountain Pose
- Stretches the spine. Helps practitioners below 18 years to gain some height
- Reduces extra fat in the back and waist
- Tones abdominal muscles and stimulates functions of abdominal organs

Note
People suffering from knee problems and reeling sensation should not do Mountain Pose. Those who are unable to do Lotus Pose can practice Mountain Pose assuming Easy Pose.
